I agree with the ideas of Doctor Stolorow in his paper about neutrality, but there are some misunderstandings when people talks about this matter.Freud wrote one thing and did another, so did many others authors. They knew that the ideal was not of a cold and distant analyst but one that was not intrusive and directly suggestive. As I understand Dr Stolorow"s paper the suggestions included in interpretations are unavoidable and we have to use them to understand the meanings of the intersubjective field. The transference is contaminated by the analyst issues, personality...and also from the patient side.I think that we have to use this contaminated tranference to understand the intersubjective field and also to detect a kind of seljobject transference that I am paying attention nowadays: The patient needs to search in the analyst a specific connection that are related with his/her needs of bring his/her trauma to the present day. The analyst has the opportunity to be this kind of selfobject to the patient and examine the questions involved.
