Intersubjectivity & Cultural Studies

I'm currently working on a Phd in Cultural Studies with the working title 'Home-Space - Home, Space, Place, Representation & Identity' Although I have absolutely no background in psych - I feel quite strongly that there is a 'missing piece' - the 'embodied' - or intersubject/object 'emdodied' aspect - in theorising cultural phenomena/experience. Have been fishing around for a 'non-lacanian' approach(which, although the dominant cultural studies approach to matters of the psyche, just does not resonate for me) to help me with certain aspects of my project. I read with fascination Stolorow & Atwood's ideas on this site and would like to read more. Can anyone recommend any writings which deal with these kinds of ideas in relation to cultural phenomena / objects? In particular, material which is accesible for those without a specific psych background?

Thanks, Amanda Wise a.wise@scholar.nepean.uws.edu.au
