I think that Turkish culture and similar middle-east cultures are good occasions to test cross-cultural validity and applicability of psychodynamic model. I believe that the western kind of psychodynamic approach is not very applicable to turkish culture. Classical neutrality, anonimity and abstinence cause high-level of early drop-outs. In Istanbul just professionals go to classical psychoanalysis. Maybe similar to everywhere in the world laymen choose more to be treated by "relative anonimity/neutrality/abstinence". Psychodynamic model, is originally western, so we have to choose the best alternativein hand: It is Self-psychology.I can say that this is a very good compromise point for my culture: Still psychodynamic model, but much more applicable to oriental interpersonal field.
