Sustained empathic introspective inquiry is, and always has been the essential ingredient of effective work with others. The advantage for those of us who came from clergy and clinical pastoral training backgrou ds, has been that what we bring by way of our own pathology, interests, theories and perspectives has always been part of the picture. The multiple diads present, say in a Supervisor with a trainee, talking about the relationship with a client have profound influence on all four parties! The Supervisor, the Supervisee the client AND the CORPORATE SELF FORMED BY THE SUPERVISOR/SUPERVISEE with the Client always at least symbolically present. Alan Kindler has just led a superb workshop for us here in Melbourne unpacking this very issues from the point of view of the Mirror Tranference.
