This four and half-hour course will be divided into three segments:

• The impact of the selfobject concept on the psychoanalytic theory of development.
• The relationship between the theory of development and child psychotherapy.
• Clinical presentations and discussions with the audience.

This is a conceptual division; the presentation will not be followed in this particular sequence; the audience shall be involved in the discussion of these various aspects of child psychotherapy throughout the course.
